In the three years since Colorado legalized recreational use of marijuana, there was a sharp increase in DWI cases based solely on marijuana consumption. This year saw a reversal of that pattern as there has been a decrease in DWI arrest from 2016. Authorities attribute the decline this year to drivers being more aware that simply because marijuana is legal, they still cannot drive high. However, one out of every two drivers in Colorado admit that they have driven high at least once since marijuana was legalized.
